The Environmental Protection and Climate Resilience Agency (EPCRA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working in Somalia at the intersection of environmental protection, climate change adaptation and community resilience.
WHO WE ARE
Building a Cleaner Environment and a Stronger Somalia
EPCRA was established to help protect Somalia's natural environment while strengthening the ability of communities and institutions to anticipate, withstand and recover from climate and environmental pressures.Somalia's environmental and climate challenges are interconnected. Drought, flooding, desertification, land degradation, pollution and ecosystem loss can affect livelihoods, food security, water availability, health, infrastructure and community stability.EPCRA brings these priorities together through locally led and sustainable interventions, connecting environmental stewardship with resilient communities, sustainable livelihoods, stronger institutions and informed decision-making.

Community participation can help ensure interventions respond to actual needs, respect local knowledge and build local ownership.EPCRA seeks to work with community-based organizations, local leaders, vulnerable households, producers and other relevant stakeholders when developing and implementing programs

WOMEN & YOUTH
Women and young people have an important role to play in building a resilient and environmentally sustainable Somalia. EPCRA intends to promote meaningful participation across its environmental and climate initiatives.

EPCRA's initial geographic focus is South West State of Somalia, where it intends to develop locally relevant environmental and climate-resilience initiatives.Over time, subject to organizational capacity, partnerships and program opportunities, EPCRA has the potential to expand its activities to other Federal Member States of Somalia.
Our initial focus is South West State, with a long-term vision to expand across Somalia as opportunities and partnerships grow.
